Green and matcha tea are derived from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. The major difference is the form. While green tea is created from the leaves of the Camellia plant and has a somewhat gritty texture matcha tea is a fine, velvety powder, stone-ground, and made from 100% of the finest green tea leaves.
Farmers produce matcha powder by harvesting green tea leaves, removing the stems, and veins, and grinding tea leaves into a fine powder. This process makes matcha more concentrated with powerful antioxidants, amino acids, Vitamin C, Selenium, Zinc, Magnesium, fiber, all of which support the immune system.
Antioxidants stabilize harmful free radicals, which are compounds that can damage your cells and are linked to chronic disease.
Researchers found that matcha tea is so potent, just one cup is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea. There are 137 times more antioxidants in matcha tea than other types of green tea.
Vitamin C supports the immune system by encouraging your body to produce white blood cells, which protect you against infection. Selenium reduces the oxidative stress in your body, essentially lowering inflammation and enhancing immunity as well.

There’s a reason why green and matcha teas are in so many popular weight loss supplements. Studies show that they can speed up your metabolism and burn fat. In one study, green tea extract, along with moderate exercise, boosted fat burning capability by 17% in participants.
All it takes is 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder and a cup of hot water in your favorite mug, and you could experience amazing results.
